Action demanded against ghost schools

KARACHI – Dr Merajul Huda, provincial leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that Sindh Education Department has failed to take firm action against the ghost schools in Sindh as the number of ghost schools is on the rise.

Talking to a delegation of Tanzeem-e-Asatiza Sindh, he said the children of the rulers study abroad but there are no proper facilities to enroll millions of poor children.

He said according to a report of World Bank in Sindh alone, there are at least 12,000 ghost schools, which speaks loud and clear about the performance of education department. Huda said the feudal politicians would never give education to children of their peasants. He said the feudal rulers have harmed the education sector due to appointments of incompetent people on the basis of nepotism and political loyalty.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami in its electoral manifesto had given priority to education sector. He said without the rule of law and merit, the downslide in the education sector could not be stopped.

He said people should elect honest and capable people to save Pakistani society from further deterioration.(Nation)

The CM said on the occasion that the government wanted Pakistani varsities to compete with world class universities. CM Qaim said that the NFC award was a landmark achievement of the present government. Previously the funds were divided on population basis, but now the NFC award was being distributed on the basis of multi-criteria including resource generation, he added.
Furthermore, he said that under this formula the Sindh government had received an amount of Rs 55 billion, which previously stood at Rs 23 billion.

Private schools reject commercial fee on buildings

Private schools reject commercial fee on buildings

LAHORE: Rejecting the new commercialisation policy for buildings on 46 city roads, the Private Schools Management Association has announced a protest movement against the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Thursday, office-bearers of the association criticised the LDA’s move of introducing the new commercialisation policy.

Private school owners said that payment of heavy amount to get the permanent commercial status would not be feasible for them as most of the schools were operating on rented buildings.

The association demanded that the Punjab chief minister set aside the LDA’s policy and restore the old policy of annual commercial status for buildings where educational institutions are operating. app
